Extra Super Duralumin, which offers excellent lightness and strength, is used as the material to achieve weight reduction.
By optimizing the line capacity, there is no need to wind on excess line, making it possible to reduce the total weight of the spool.
In addition, the spool shaft features a special surface treatment with excellent wear resistance and low friction, achieving both durability and rotational performance.
Two each of the dedicated centrifugal brake blocks (Large/Small) are included, allowing brake adjustment to match the size of the lure.
Furthermore, the centrifugal brake blocks are newly equipped with a drop-prevention function and an ON/OFF function, so there is no worry about dropping a brake block while fishing, and adjustments can be made smoothly on site.

The basic design affecting line-winding performance, such as groove depth, remains unchanged from the previous model, while weight reduction was pursued by revising the structure.
A weight reduction of approx. 4g compared to the previous model has been achieved (Previous: approx. 10.4g/10.8g → New: approx. 6.5g/6.8g), further widening the weight difference from the Genuine spool.

“Microcast” Series
A spool developed for use with PE #0.3 - PE #0.6 line and lures of 1g - 5g.
Suited to Ajing, managed trout ponds, bass, and trout fishing in mountain streams.

“Midcast” Series
A spool developed for use with PE #0.6 - PE #1.0 line and lures of 3g - 10g.
Suited to Mebaru (rockfish), Chinu (black sea bream), light rock, bass, and trout fishing from mid-stream to main river sections.

I field-tested the BTM1020R II of the Microcast series with a 4g heavy sinking minnow.
The tackle was a 5.3ft-UL.
The first thing I felt was that the spool’s start-up response is clearly improved over the previous model.
The effect of the weight reduction is very large; the initial speed at the moment of the cast feels light, and the lure is sent out pleasantly.
The newly designed ON/OFF centrifugal brake is also easy to handle, making setting changes on site simple.
For the test, I used one large-size brake block in the ON position.
With the lure and tackle used in the test, this setting gave the best feeling, with an excellent balance between security and distance.
What impressed me most was the extension in the latter half of the cast.
In mountain streams there are many situations where you send the lure on a low trajectory under branches or deep into overhangs, and because it extends pleasantly all the way through the latter half, it has become easier to deliver the lure to the targeted spot.
The way the centrifugal brake works is also very natural, and I feel the casting feel is of a very high level of completion.

| Precautions

- Since the Bantam 10SG has a bushing installed in its Genuine condition, replacement with a bearing (Stainless BB 9x5x3) is recommended in order to fully realize the rotational performance of this spool.
- To maintain the improved rotational performance and the effect of the special surface treatment, please apply an appropriate amount of oil to the pinion gear side of the spool shaft before use.
- Due to the characteristics of the special surface treatment, the color may fade due to rubbing during use, but there is no problem with function or performance.
- The brake blocks are dedicated items.
AVAIL brake blocks and Genuine brake blocks cannot be used.
- The Microcast Spool is machined as thin as possible up to the limit of the required strength in order to reduce weight.
The drive noise of the reel and the rotational noise of the bearings may resonate inside the reel and sound louder, but this has no effect on actual fishing.
Also, applying excessive tension when winding line onto the spool may cause damage.
- Thumbing on the spool rim may cause the anodized finish to peel off due to friction. Please perform thumbing on the line-winding surface of the spool.
