With its bearing-less construction, this line roller offers exceptional durability and resistance to contamination, while spinning as smoothly and lightly as a bearing-equipped model. It significantly reduces the line trouble characteristic of the Cardinal series.

The Line Roller Hyper, also compatible with PE line, rotates smoothly so that line is wound evenly onto the spool. This enables smooth line release during casting, allowing you to feel the improvement in casting distance.
On top of that, it comes with the welcome bonus of improved drag performance.

Simply put, you can no longer talk about the Cardinal without mentioning the Line Roller Hyper.

Combined with the separately sold Line Roller Base from the same series, it creates an even sharper, more refined design.
In terms of functionality, it also makes it easier to spot spider webs in the field - a common cause of line trouble.

The special alloy and resin inner collars, compatible with PE line, flexibly accommodate not only different model years and types of Cardinal reels, but also variations in inner diameter caused by individual product differences.

Compatible with nearly all reels, whether old or new, original or reissue.

* From January 2025, two sizes of resin inner collars (inner diameter 3.55mm and 3.6mm) are included.



The protrusions on each part are made as smooth as possible to prevent line breaks and fraying when using drag with PE line.


| Installation Method (Daily Maintenance Is the Same)



1. Use the IOS Multi Tool or similar to disassemble and clean the genuine line roller.



2. Set the resin collar that fits the line roller shaft.
As a guide, select from the four collar sizes the one that rotates without any wobble.




3. Apply IOS-02 to the resin collar.




4. Insert the line roller body and apply oil to the resin collar. (No top/bottom orientation.)




5. Insert the line roller body into the base.




6. Tighten with a dedicated tool such as the IOS Multi Tool to complete the installation.
If it tends to loosen easily, the bail may need to be straightened.

* The IOS Multi Tool is convenient for carrying. Keeping one in your fishing vest and another in your tackle box gives you peace of mind for unexpected trouble in the field.

| Compatibility

Compatible with the original/reissue ABU Cardinal 3/33 and 4/44 series, in both normal gear and high gear specifications.
However, some original-spec models are not compatible.

Also compatible with Cardinal 52 and 152.

| Notes

When installing, always use a dedicated tool or the separately sold IOS Multi Tool.

If the line roller is significantly worn, dirty, or corroded, rotational performance may be reduced.

The resin liner is more durable than a bearing, but it is essentially a consumable part.

Once worn, rotation may become poor.

* If the bail return becomes poor after installing the line roller, please correct the bail.
