Bright Red D-system is the Drag of the Future.


The monocoque body made a sensational debut with the debut of 18 EXIST.
The "D-system for 18-22" is a highly rigid & high-precision drag unit that is as strong as its concept.
It comes with a special tool, making it very easy to install. It can be used from 18EXIST and up to the latest models, and is salt-resistant and corrosion-resistant.

Compatible with DAIWA's LC-ABS (Long Cast-ABS) spools, the bright red D is the drag standard for a new era, linearly following the slightest torque fluctuations from 1LB with high response.

On Installation

This product is a custom part that gives top priority to the drag performance of the reel.
Please note that the line is not wound completely parallel to the spool when the spool is rewound.

For the D-system, if uneven winding occurs, adjust by increasing or decreasing the number of washers.
There is no functional problem even if there is no washer under the bearing.

The D-system should basically be fixed in the upper hole position, and only when it interferes with the rotor nut, should it be fixed in the lower hole position.

The sister product, D-System for 18 series, can also be installed on the above reels, but for 20 LUVIAS/21 PRESSO, etc., it was necessary to remove the rotor and install a 1mm washer.
The D-system 20 series is fixed in the lower hole position of the D-system body, eliminating the need to disassemble the rotor and add washers.
Only when uneven winding of the line is not eliminated by reducing the number of washers, remove the rotor and set the supplied 0.5-1 mm washers on the pinion bearing.


Actual Installation Example

(Pattern A)

18 EXIST, 21 LUVIAS AIRITY, 22 EXIST and the method of mounting reels with D-system fixation at the hole position on the base





Before installation, the rear end position of the spool and the rotor position should be marked, and the rotor should not be turned until the D-system installation is completed, then the spool can be reinstalled to check the alignment for a simple winding irregularity adjustment.
Remove the existing drag unit and install the D-system unit on the shaft only.
Fixing should be done at the top hole with the supplied potato screws and the supplied tool. (The image shows a maintenance tool.)
One 0.5mm adjusting washer is recommended under the bearing, but for strict adjustment of line winding irregularities, increase or decrease the number of washers.

Adjust the strength of the drag sound by bending the end of the spring, such as by widening or narrowing the end of the spring.
The stock accessory spring can also be diverted for special loudness.

For daily maintenance, apply IOS-02 to the bearings.
IOS Drag Grease is applied to the drag washers on the spool to ensure 100% performance of the D-system.

For 20 LUVIAS and 21 PRESSO, and for D-systems where fixing the upper hole position interferes with the rotor nut.




Before installation, the rear end position of the spool and the rotor position should be marked, and the rotor should not be turned until the D-system installation is completed, then the spool can be reinstalled to check the alignment for a simple winding irregularity adjustment.
In principle, it is not necessary to disassemble the rotor and place a 1mm washer on the pinion gear bearing in advance.
Remove all existing drag units, leaving only the shaft, and attach the D-system unit to it.
Fixing should be done at the bottom hole with the supplied potato screws and the supplied tool. (The image shows a maintenance tool.)
Normally, no adjustment washer is recommended.

Only when uneven winding of the line is not eliminated by reducing the number of washers, remove the rotor and set the supplied 0.5 mm washers on the pinion bearing.
In principle, it is not necessary to insert washers.

Adjust the strength of the drag sound by bending the end of the spring, such as by widening or narrowing the end of the spring.
