By Improving Line Roller Rotation, Retrieve Sensitivity Is Greatly Enhanced.

This Line Roller Reduces Line Trouble and Ensures Proper Line Winding on the Spool Under Any Line Tension, Resulting in Stable and Smooth Casting with Improved Distance.

Its Rotation Is So Smooth That It Spins with Just the Weight of the Line, Even Without a Lure, and This Can Be Visually Confirmed by the Stylish Dot Hole Movement.

In Fishing, the Line Roller Should Always Rotate—Not Only When a Fish Is Hooked, but Also During Slack Line Recovery or Light Lure Retrieval. If Not, Twisted Line Will Be Wound onto the Spool.

This Twisted Line May Sudden Release During Casting, Leading to Reduced Distance and Even Backlash.

A Non-Rotating Line Roller Not Only Dulls Retrieve Sensitivity but Also Triggers Line Trouble and Distance Loss.

The IOS Line Roller Direct Is a Completely New Concept That Harnesses Line Twist to Enhance Casting Distance and Retrieve Sensitivity on DAIWA Real Four Reels.

| Installation Example (Real Four Type)

| How to Install (Real Type: 12 EXIST)

1. Loosen the screw securing the line roller and remove the entire unit. Clean the inside of the bail.

2. Assemble from the underside of the bail in this order: 0.5mm shim, bearing, line roller body, bearing, two 0.5mm shims, 0.1mm shim. Generously apply IOS-02 grease to all parts. Tighten with the included screw and check rotation.
* Avoid overtightening. If rotation is poor, reduce the number of 0.1mm shims.
Always check for loose screws before and after use to prevent part loss.

| How to Install (Real Type: 17 THEORY)
* Applies to reels with gold plate behind the line roller.

1. Loosen the screw securing the line roller and remove the entire unit. Clean the back of the bail. Also remove the gold plate.
If stuck, apply parts cleaner and tap from behind.

2. Assemble from the bail in this order: 0.5mm shim, bearing, line roller body, bearing, two 0.5mm shims, and 0.1mm shim. Ensure slight vertical movement and that the dot is half hidden. Apply IOS-02 and tighten screw.

| Ideal Line Roller Position

The dot on the large ring should be half hidden.
If fully visible, line twist is reduced but sensitivity drops.
Adjust with included 0.1mm shims as needed.

*Note
Removing the Magsealed function may reduce durability and void warranty.

| How to Install (TD Type)

Simple & Low-Noise Setting
1. Loosen the screw securing the line roller and remove the unit.

2. After cleaning the bail, insert the included screw from the arm lever side.

3. Assemble in the order: bearing, line roller body, 0.5mm shim, then tighten.

4. The dot should be about half hidden under the arm lever. Lower = more distance, but more twist. Higher = less twist, but shorter distance.

Adjust with included 0.2mm shims as needed.

5. Confirm minimum clearance for smooth rotation, then tighten screw. If not rotating, try the “Rotation Priority Setting” below.
Always check screw tightness before and after use.

“Rotation Priority Setting for TD Type”
1. Loosen the screw and remove the line roller unit.

2. Use a hook to remove the color ring (blue, black, or white) on the bail underside.

3. After cleaning the bail, assemble in order: screw, bearing, line roller body, 0.5mm shim, color ring. Apply IOS-02 generously.

SC-Z Example

First-Gen CERTATE Example (Pre-Magsealed)

4. Use the white color rings to fine-tune clearance. If not rotating, check for missing 0.5mm shim. Adjust or sand white color ring if needed.

Tighten screw and reconfirm rotation.

5. Adjust dot visibility: half hidden is ideal.

Fine-tune with 0.2mm shim. Adjust colors if clearance changes.

◎Developer’s Column

“IOS Line Roller Direct / Impact”

Some may find it unbelievable that changing a line roller can improve casting distance—but any user will feel the difference.

Experienced anglers know just how important the line roller is to a reel’s performance.

Well-aligned line thanks to a properly spinning roller means smoother line release and improved guide exit, resulting in longer casts.

Why does retrieve sensitivity improve? Because vibrations from the line travel directly to the roller. Especially with crankbaits, this enhances feedback dramatically.

Use a marker to test if your roller rotates under light tension—it often doesn’t.
For ultralight setups, rotation is crucial. IOS rollers rotate just from water drag on a bare line with a snap.

IOS line rollers not only enhance rotation, but even control the natural coil of spinning lines to achieve optimal entry angles to the guides, improving flight distance.

Development took nearly a year of prototyping daily. IOS’s Kobayashi bet everything on it. When the final sample got approval from a major manufacturer, he shouted “Yes!” on the highway in joy.

This product was born from that hardship.
