Take on Big Fish With Light Line

By setting a wider adjustment range relative to the drag knob's rotation, instant drag adjustment is possible.
This reduces the risk of line breakage.
Compared to the conventional Rapid Fire Drag, the change in drag force is even greater, enabling aggressive drag operation even when using light line.

Instant Drag Force Adjustment Even During a Fight With Big Fish

The YUMEYA Rapid Fire+ Drag Knob is an optional drag system compatible with 2500 - C5000 size spinning reels (YUMEYA spool type S-28/S-33).
Its main benefit is reducing line breakage when using light line.
With just a few rotations of the knob, drag force rises instantly and can be loosened quickly - that is the defining feature of this system.
For models without Rapid Fire Drag, approximately 1/3.5 rotation (fewer rotations than current Rapid Fire Drag-equipped models) is enough to raise or lower to the target drag force.
Using this characteristic, you can tighten the drag firmly when hooking to set the hook securely in the fish's mouth, then instantly loosen the drag afterward to reduce strain on the line and prevent breakage.
This gives you an advantage when battling big fish on light line.

A Must-Have Item for Tough Modern Scenes,
Pushing the Limits With Light Line

Kenshi Kuroda

Since being introduced on the original COMPLEX in 2009, Rapid Fire Drag has been supported for many years.
The release of an optional part that allows this mechanism to be installed on other models, including higher-end models, is something bass anglers have been waiting for.

The biggest feature is that the change in drag relative to knob rotation is greater than on current Rapid Fire Drag-equipped models (e.g., 25 COMPLEX XR).
You can keep the drag tight when hooking, and instantly loosen it in response to the fish's pull during a fight.

With thicker line, bites can be poor, and switching to thinner line often increases bites.
And the fish are by no means small...
The Rapid Fire+ Drag, which allows instant drag operation, will become indispensable for tough modern bass fishing.

Once You Get Used to This Drag's Convenience, There's No Going Back

Masayuki Matsushita

"I wish there were a drag like this."

I felt this strongly when dealing with large fish during the 2022 U.S. tour.
So I requested a sample to be made during the season and installed it on all my Vanquish 2500HGS reels. I have been using them for about three years now.

The advantage of the Rapid Fire+ Drag Knob is that the drag loosens dramatically with just a half rotation.
You can keep the rod tension and follow the fish's pull while sparing the line.
Until you get used to it, you may loosen too much, but once you get the feel, nothing is more convenient.
Even now, with Japan as my main fishing ground, it is extremely useful.

Set the hook firmly with the drag tight, then loosen if the fish is large.
Loosen quickly when you notice the line rubbing against standing timber or fish reefs.
A half turn loosens it considerably.
If you feel you have loosened too much, simply turn back 1/4 rotation.
Even when fish suddenly dive, you can instantly loosen the drag and avoid breakage risk.
With minimal operation, you can control drag tension and significantly reduce missed catches.

Instant Adjustment of Tightening and Loosening,
Landing Both Big Fish and Lightly Hooked Fish With Ease

Takeru Tomimoto

When taking on large fish lurking in big lakes with spinning tackle, using thicker line is one option, but it not only reduces bites but also shortens casting distance.
I want to use thinner line if possible, but I absolutely don't want to get broken off.
I always had this conflict.

If you have line to spare, you don't need to worry too much about drag adjustment.
But when fishing on the edge, drag adjustment is the key.
The idea that a drag knob capable of instant tightening and loosening adjustment in a single action would be a weapon led me to have a prototype made three years ago.

For example, when targeting deep-range fish reefs or brush piles.
Tighten the drag when hooking, loosen after hooking, and tighten again to stop runs.
A drag with a large change rate allows for instant precise adjustment.
That is the strength of the Rapid Fire+ Drag Knob.

My main line is 6 lb fluorocarbon, with PE 0.4 - 0.6 for I-shape lures.
Combined with a 6 - 7 lb leader for casting distance.
I have used it extensively on size 2500 STELLA and Vanquish reels, and line breakage has dramatically decreased.

Recently, I have also been using it for my hobby of squid fishing (eging).
By tightening before hooking and loosening after hooking, I can land squid even when only one tentacle is hooked.
It also handles short bites, as bass anglers would call them.

Quick Drag Adjustment Greatly Changes Catch Rates
in Inshore Sawage and Hitotsu Tenya Fishing.

[Sawage]

This drag knob is an innovative part - simply replacing it greatly improves your fish catch rate.
The first application I would recommend is Sawage (Spanish mackerel game fishing).
Spanish mackerel have both soft and hard areas in their mouths. The soft areas tear easily, while the hard areas are difficult to hook, making them very prone to throwing the hook.
I target Spanish mackerel with blade jigging and minnow jerking, but head shaking after the hookup, thrashing just below the surface, and forceful fighting all lead directly to lost fish.
That is why it is important to set the hook firmly on the bite and drive the hook deep.
Spanish mackerel sometimes bite while facing toward you, so I hook them with a reeling hookset.
At this moment, the drag must be set so it does not slip and so the hookset force can be transmitted firmly to the hook.

On the other hand, you need to quickly loosen the drag the moment the Spanish mackerel starts running after being hooked.
This is to prevent the mouth from tearing during sharp runs.
Whether you can reliably operate the drag in the brief moment of transition from hookset to fight determines your catch.
Hesitating in this drag operation leads to lost fish.

Where my regular TWIN POWER's normal drag knob requires more than half a rotation, the Rapid Fire+ Drag Knob can handle it in 1/4 to 1/5 of a rotation.
This difference creates a significant gap in catch rates between those who use Rapid Fire and those who do not.

[Hitotsu Tenya]

Hitotsu Tenya is also a style of fishing where catch rates change dramatically based on drag adjustment alone.
Red sea bream have many hard areas in their mouths, and the spots where hooks penetrate easily are limited.
While Tairaba uses small hooks to snag in easily-penetrating spots, Hitotsu Tenya has a large, thick main hook that requires a strong hookset to drive through.
Also, Hitotsu Tenya is often done in deep water or in complex currents where line slack occurs, so it is important to transmit hookset power firmly without letting the drag slip.
For this reason, the drag is tightened, but since thin line such as PE 0.6 is used, tightening too much creates the risk of breaking on the hookset.
A precise drag setting is required.

And after the hookset, you need to instantly loosen the drag to handle the red sea bream's runs and dives, as well as good-sized pelagic fish, to prevent line breakage.
Adjusting the drag during the flow from hookset to fight is the key to increasing your catch.

In that respect, the Rapid Fire+ Drag Knob, which allows quick operation, is a logical item.
It is highly effective for fish with soft mouths and for fishing where battles with large fish on thin line are expected.
Especially for those who often lose fish in Spanish mackerel game fishing or Hitotsu Tenya, this is a part you should definitely try.

TECHNOLOGY

Rapid Fire+ Drag

The change in drag force relative to the drag knob's rotation is even greater than with Rapid Fire Drag, enabling instant drag adjustment.
This makes aggressive drag operation possible (suppressing the risk of line breakage) even when using light line.
