Foehn 88S
The Foehn 88S is a long-casting offshore rod.
It was developed to comfortably handle lightweight plugs as well as lures in the average 100g range commonly used for Hiramasa (Amberjack).
Its remarkable qualities include high breaking strength and lightweight construction despite being a long rod.
It achieves a 60-degree breaking strength of 28kg while being designed to weigh under 300g.
This greatly reduces the tip-heavy fatigue and casting strain that tend to accompany long rods over extended fishing sessions.
The Foehn 88S blank is designed with a clear backbone within a flexible flex profile.
Even with light input, the rod bends smoothly and naturally, allowing effortless distance gains.
The result is not only long-cast performance, but also casting accuracy to deliver lures precisely to target spots.
During the fight, the entire blank absorbs the fish's power and distributes the load.
High stability once hooked and reduced angler fatigue during prolonged fights are also key features.
Taking full advantage of its 8.8ft length, the rod allows efficient coverage across a wide area in offshore casting situations targeting Hiramasa, Kihada (Pacific Bluefin Tuna), GT, and more.
Combined with the Xaloc 83S or Ghibli 83S, it enables strategic rod rotation based on location and conditions.
The Foehn 88S also demonstrates high versatility in shore casting applications.
For situations where a 9ft class rod is not required, it is a single rod that excels both offshore and onshore.
