Type: ZR (Single-Sided Open BB) is a technical BB designed for anglers who demand precision. It specializes in situations requiring accurate casting to targeted points and quick, decisive pitching. Because one side is open, bearing cleaning and oil application are easier, and with regular maintenance, performance can be continuously maximized.
In addition, the open side surface is treated with anti-rust processing, improving durability compared to conventional open bearings.

Why Do HEDGEHOG STUDIO Kattobi Bearings Cast So Far?

From selecting raw materials to machining, assembly, and inspection, production is carried out under strict domestic quality control.
Each finished bearing is carefully inspected by artisans, and only those that pass are treated with our original oil and shipped.
Because they are genuine MADE IN JAPAN bearings, this level of quality is possible.



* When casting lures over 20g to full distance, all bearing types achieve nearly identical maximum distance. However, for pitching and short-range control, AIR Bearings are superior.
(For lures under 20g, AIR Bearings significantly outperform standard bearings in both distance and controllability, especially for finesse casting.)

AIR BFS Bearings offer higher startup performance than AIR Ceramic Bearings. However, AIR BFS is not necessarily more effective in all situations. BFS Bearings are especially strong in lure weights under 10g. For a balanced all-round choice, AIR Ceramic is recommended.
For lure weights above 20g, AIR HD Ceramic is optimal.

* When using in saltwater, always select AIR Ceramic Series bearings. BFS is not suitable for saltwater use.
* For heavy lures (over 20g), maximum distance performance is achieved with AIR HD Ceramic Bearings.

The chart above is based on the assumption of casting with lure weights.
Note that actual performance varies depending on reel type, rod, and casting style.
If you frequently use lures over 20g, or saltwater applications such as shore casting and offshore jigging, ZHi Bearings are also recommended.

If corrosion resistance is your top priority, select AIR HD Ceramic Bearings. Otherwise, ZHi Bearings are recommended.
