Lever Drag Designed Exclusively for Jigging.
A New Strategic Weapon for Challenging Giant Fish.
Lever drag reels offer intuitive and highly controllable drag operation, and their resistance to heat fade makes them ideal for long fights with tuna.
Structurally, lever drag reels become heavier to turn as drag pressure increases, but the newly developed Infinity Drive construction reduces handle rotation resistance by 30% compared to previous models, even at high drag settings.
Featuring a new large T-shaped handle knob for battling big fish, a 105 mm cold-forged handle, an easy-to-thumb frame shape, and a drag lever designed with operability in mind, this lever drag reel embodies the OCEA JIGGER series’ dedication to performance.
Includes an additional drag cam compatible with light lines.
Up to 30% Lighter Rotational Torque Than Conventional Structures.
A Newly Developed Double Drag System Redefines Lever Drag Standards.

With nearshore jigging for albacore and yellowfin tuna becoming more accessible, anglers can now target fish in the 50 kg class.
In fights with large fish, a reel must provide not only sufficient line capacity but also a reliable drag system.
The lever drag system adopted in the OCEA JIGGER LD offers many advantages, such as easily achieving high drag values and allowing instant, precise drag adjustment.
However, it also has the drawback that handle rotation becomes heavier as drag pressure increases.
To minimize this disadvantage, the OCEA JIGGER LD incorporates Infinity Drive into its lever drag system.
By adopting a newly developed double drag structure with two drag washers, it achieves high drag force with lower thrust.
Compared to conventional models of the same size, rotational torque has been reduced by up to 30%.
This light, star-drag-like rotation feel is a key advantage of the OCEA JIGGER LD.
The difference is immediately apparent when compared with conventional lever drag reels.
In addition, the drag lever uses a cold-forged lever designed exclusively for the OCEA JIGGER LD.
Its high rigidity and carefully considered shape enable smoother drag operation.
Maximum Drag Force of 20 kg.
Stable Drag Performance With Excellent Heat Resistance.

The maximum drag force of the OCEA JIGGER LD is 20 kg.
This value represents the drag force at the FULL position when the preset is fully tightened within the range where spool free remains available.
Compared to star drag systems, the highly durable drag resists heat fade, reducing drag force loss by approximately 25% under certain conditions compared to the OCEA JIGGER 2000.
This ensures stable drag performance during intense battles with large fish, providing confidence and reliability.
High Drag Power Achieved in a Compact Body.

Despite its body size being comparable to the OCEA JIGGER 2000, the lever drag–equipped OCEA JIGGER LD achieves a maximum drag force of 20 kg.
This even surpasses the 18 kg maximum drag of the OCEA JIGGER 4000, the largest Shimano jigging reel with a star drag system.
The compact body offers excellent palming comfort, providing a significant advantage when working heavy jigs throughout the day.
Dedicated Jigging Design With Attention to Every Detail.

The OCEA JIGGER LD also features a jigging-specific design refined down to the smallest details, including weight reduction and enhanced palming comfort.
The underlying principle is to “reduce weight while maintaining rigidity and durability.”
For example, the drive gear has been lightened by 12 g through strategic material removal, while the handle knob has been enlarged by 12% to improve operability, yet weight is maintained through the use of an aluminum insert and hollow construction.
Inheriting the OCEA JIGGER series’ design philosophy, the reel fits naturally in the palm, enhancing grip comfort and making thumbing easier thanks to its refined frame shape.
The handle adopts the OCEA JIGGER series’ high-rigidity cold-forged handle, optimized for light winding with minimal power loss, and is specially designed at 105 mm for the JIGGER LD.
Combined with an ergonomically angled handle knob that allows greater force application, it delivers a comfortable jigging experience.

Customizable to Match Your Target and Experience Level.

The stopper button, which securely stops the lever at the strike position, reduces the risk of line breakage caused by overtightening for anglers new to lever drag reels, and is also effective for mid-water tuna fishing.
For amberjack jigging that requires intense bottom battles, or for expert anglers who do not need a stopper, it can be set to OFF.
* Please refer to the instruction manual for customization methods.

The OCEA JIGGER LD can be customized to better suit the angler’s experience level and target species.
By replacing the standard drag cam installed at shipment with the included light line cam, drag progression becomes smoother, making it suitable for PE 1.5 to 2.5 lines.
This configuration is ideal for targeting alfonsino and thornyhead in mid-depth waters, as well as nearshore bluefish jigging.

HAGANE: The SHIMANO Philosophy

A reel design philosophy aimed at achieving “unchanging smoothness forever.”
That is HAGANE.
By refining proprietary metalworking technologies such as precision cold forging to their limits, SHIMANO continues to pursue reels that only SHIMANO can create.
Backed by the HAGANE philosophy, SHIMANO reels combine inspiring smoothness with overwhelming strength, earning the trust of anglers for generations.
Products that reveal their true value the more they are used embody SHIMANO’s unwavering commitment and promise.
SHIMANO Technologies That Realize the HAGANE Philosophy

Supporting reel manufacturing based on the HAGANE philosophy are SHIMANO’s proprietary metalworking technologies, cultivated over many years.
These include the HAGANE Gear, which is forged to deliver overwhelming strength and durability from tooth tip to root while enabling smooth winding, and the highly rigid HAGANE Body, which suppresses twisting and flex during winding, protects internal components from sudden impacts, and ensures smooth reeling.
A Symbol of SHIMANO Metalworking Technology.
Precision Cold-Forged “HAGANE Gear.”

Unlike hot forging, SHIMANO’s precision cold forging technology applies pressure to metal at room temperature to achieve exceptional precision and strength, creating the HAGANE Gear.
The HAGANE Gear is formed by compressing a solid block of metal with approximately 200 tons of force.
Without any cutting on the gear surface, this press-forging process produces gears with micron-level precision in a single step, a technique unmatched worldwide.
Its quality truly deserves to be called “forged metal.”
Forging a Solid Block of Metal Into a Precision Gear

- High density: Comparing cross-sections of precision cold-forged HAGANE Gears with cast (die-cast) gears reveals a clear difference.
Cast gears, made by melting material and pouring it into molds, are prone to air bubbles and impurities, visible as black spots in images.
In contrast, precision cold forging results in high crystal density with no voids.
This produces a tougher, more resilient gear.

- High hardness: In precision cold forging, where no machine cutting is performed on the gear teeth, the metal flow is uninterrupted.
Gears with metal flow preserved along their shape are highly resistant to impact and extremely unlikely to break.

- High smoothness: Gears made by cutting retain microscopic scratches and protrusions on the surface, which can cause localized fatigue.
HAGANE Gears, however, have extremely smooth tooth surfaces, maintaining quiet and smooth winding even after repeated use.
Protecting Gears and Rotational Performance From Load and Impact.
The High-Rigidity Metal “HAGANE Body.”

The HAGANE Body uses highly rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium.
While pursuing extreme weight reduction, it suppresses flexing, distortion, and twisting of the reel body, enabling smooth reeling with minimal power loss.
High rigidity also protects delicate gear engagement from impact, preserving smooth winding performance.
A refined metal body polished for function embodies a dignified beauty.
SHIMANO’s Commitment to All Anglers

HAGANE represents SHIMANO’s design philosophy of equipping advanced, precision technology with toughness to create reels that can be used to their fullest.
This pursuit produces highly durable gears (HAGANE Gear) and rigid bodies (HAGANE Body) that support them, delivering world-class strength and smoothness.
The more you use it, the more you appreciate the true value of HAGANE.
Entrusting a message of strength to HAGANE, SHIMANO now delivers it to anglers everywhere.
Infinity Drive
Dramatically Reduces Rotational Resistance.
Infinity Drive Challenges the Impossible Through Innovative Thinking.

A new mechanism developed by SHIMANO to achieve more powerful yet lighter winding.
Of the two grease bearings supporting the pinion gear, the bearing on the spool side generates the greatest rotational resistance.
Instead of supporting it there, the structure has been redesigned to support the pinion gear from the inside using the spool shaft.
Support distance and wall thickness have been thoroughly optimized to achieve high rigidity as well.
This dramatically reduces rotational resistance in the gear section without compromising gear strength.
X-Protect
An Impenetrable Waterproof System.

By combining a water-repellent barrier with special water-repellent grease, water intrusion into the spool-side bearing of the drive gear shaft is firmly prevented.
S Compact Body

By making the palming side smaller in diameter than the handle side, it delivers a grip that feels one size smaller.
This enhances palming comfort.
S A-RB
Bearings Designed to Resist Rust

“S A-RB” bearings undergo special anti-rust treatment, significantly improving corrosion resistance on metal surfaces.
In addition, shielding helps reduce the intrusion of sand and other debris.

The Role of Bearings in Reels

Bearings are components that allow shafts to rotate smoothly within machinery and are essential for enhancing reel performance.
They are crucial for ease of casting and sensitivity during reeling.
However, when seawater, rain, sand, or salt enters bearings, it can cause rust and degrade smooth winding performance.
To prevent this, reel bearings often use rust-resistant stainless steel materials or special coatings.
Greatly Enhanced Resistance to Rust
SHIMANO’s S A-RB creates a physical shield wall on the bearing sides to protect the balls, combined with special anti-rust processing.
This makes the metal surface resistant to rust and corrosion even if seawater enters.
As a result, bearings last longer and support a more comfortable fishing experience for anglers.
