Tactical Armor

The OCEA CONQUEST CT integrates a highly rigid yet silky-smooth drive system featuring a high-precision metal body and Micro Module Gear, combined with a digital counter and fall lever to deliver advanced strategy and repeatability.
The new model is equipped with a newly designed fall lever that maintains light winding even under tension, along with Infinity Drive, further enhancing winding lightness and sensitivity.
In addition, the new line counter with an expanded viewing angle now includes a line retrieve distance alarm, supporting even more precise strategies.
Of course, the rock-solid toughness that the OCEA CONQUEST series has built—such as a high-durability clutch, highly corrosion-resistant stainless steel parts, and waterproof performance provided by X-PROTECT—is fully retained.
With refinements down to the smallest details, including improved palming comfort and enhanced counter visibility, this reel delivers uncompromising specifications that meet the expectations of offshore anglers.
Furthermore, the MG model previously introduced in the 300 size has now been added to the 200 size lineup, expanding versatility for tai-rubber fishing.

A Blissful Winding Feel That Turns Even Harsh Battles into Pleasure.

The renewed OCEA CONQUEST CT further elevates its signature smooth yet powerful winding feel.
The secret lies in three technologies: Micro Module Gear, Infinity Drive, and the HAGANE body.
The Micro Module Gear, carried over from the previous model, is a refined drive system that enhances smoothness and power by densely meshing ultra-small precision gears.
In the new model, combining this gear with Infinity Drive dramatically reduces rotational resistance.
By eliminating noise, it allows anglers to more sensitively detect information such as water flow changes and bites.
Meanwhile, the precision housing of the HAGANE body that encloses the gear suppresses body distortion and firmly protects gear engagement.
The new design, which positions the handle closer to the reel body, further ensures that input power is transmitted to the gears with minimal loss.
Not just silky, and not merely powerful.
The blissful rotational feel of the OCEA CONQUEST CT transforms even the harsh battles of the deep range into pure enjoyment.

New Features Introduced. The Forefront of Line Counter Technology.

As many anglers have already experienced, the introduction of counters to offshore lure fishing has dramatically changed underwater strategies for jigging, tai-rubber, and more.
Water depth, once often ambiguous, can now be accurately grasped numerically, allowing anglers to move from intuition-based fishing to logical, data-driven approaches even in range-critical situations.
Information sharing with fellow anglers and captains has become more precise and reliable, greatly improving pattern reproducibility—undoubtedly a major benefit of digital counters.
The new line counter installed in the OCEA CONQUEST CT adds a line retrieve distance alarm to conventional functions.
Without constantly watching the counter, anglers can identify retrieve distance from the bottom, enabling efficient and repeatable tracing of the required range.
From light jigging and mid-deep sea fishing to dotera-style tai-rubber, the line counter has become an essential feature of offshore baitcasting reels.
The cutting edge of its evolution is right here.

Retrieve Distance Alarm Supports Efficient, Waste-Free Approaches.

The newly equipped retrieve distance alarm is a function that allows anglers to sense retrieve distance without looking at the depth display on the counter.
Measurement begins when the clutch is engaged and winding starts.
An audible alert sounds up to three times at multiples of the set distance, enabling anglers to recognize retrieve distance by sound alone.
For example, with a 5 m setting (A-5), an alert sounds three times at 5 m intervals up to 15 m from the bottom, notifying the angler of retrieve distance.
This function allows intuitive, auditory judgment without checking the counter, even when following the captain’s instructions such as “from XX meters to XX meters” or “retrieve XX meters after bottom contact.”
A new feature designed to further enhance concentration during retrieval from the bottom and toward the instructed range is now onboard.

Improved Viewing Angle with a Tilted Counter.

The new line counter on the OCEA CONQUEST CT tilts the display forward by 5 degrees compared to the previous model, improving the viewing angle.
This enhancement optimizes visibility during typical fishing motions where the rod tip is often lowered, while also improving palming comfort.
It is a subtle change that may go unnoticed at first glance, but the difference becomes clear during actual use.
No matter how small the detail, anything that raises concern is thoroughly reviewed.
This uncompromising approach results in the outstanding usability that defines the CONQUEST series.

Powerful Yet Compact. S Compact Body That Fits in the Palm.

The new OCEA CONQUEST reduces body width by 3 mm on the palming side.
In addition, as with the 22 OCEA CONQUEST 300, offsetting the small-diameter side plate lowers overall height, further improving palming comfort.
The compact, lightweight body fits naturally in the hand, allowing a relaxed grip and reducing angler fatigue during long fights.
It delivers the premium rotational feel and powerful winding performance that define the OCEA CONQUEST series.
Furthermore, the 200 size achieves a 3.9 mm reduction on the palming side and a 2.3 mm lower profile compared to the 18 OCEA CONQUEST 200.
Weight has also been reduced by approximately 30 g, significantly easing the angler’s burden.

Simplified Line Learning.

Line learning is a function that stores the relationship between spool rotation and line length in the digital counter and uses it to display water depth.
In addition to the conventional learning function, preset learning data is now included for frequently used lines: PE 1.2/1.5/2/2.5/3 for the 300 size and PE 0.8/1/1.2/1.5/2 for the 200 size.
As long as the specified line is wound (including backing) to approximately 1 mm below the spool’s outer diameter, it can be used within a practically sufficient margin of error regardless of backing amount.

* Usage Notes
Specified line learning values are based on winding the designated line (SHIMANO PE line), including backing, to approximately 1 mm below the spool’s outer diameter.
Accuracy may decrease depending on the type of line used, line tension during winding, and the final outer diameter after winding.
For maximum accuracy, please use learning modes E1, E2, L1, or L2.

Newly Improved Handle Knobs Optimized for Each Scenario.

The handle has been refined for greater usability by optimizing length and shape for each size.
The 300/301MG models designed for dotera tai-rubber fishing feature a 70 mm handle with a lightweight CI4+ round knob, improving constant-speed winding ease and sensitivity.
The shaft diameter has also been increased by 2 mm to enhance grip comfort during reeling.
Meanwhile, the 300/301HG and 300PG models intended for light jigging are equipped with a 75 mm handle and a new T-shaped knob, prioritizing leverage and power.
Thumb placement and hand fit have been improved, making these models even easier to use.

* Please refer to the specification table for handle configurations by model.

HAGANE: SHIMANO’s Belief

SHIMANO’s reel design philosophy aimed at achieving a “winding feel that never changes.”
That is “HAGANE.”
By refining proprietary metalworking technologies to the utmost, including precision cold forging, SHIMANO continues to pursue reels that only SHIMANO can create.
Backed by the HAGANE philosophy, SHIMANO reels combine inspiring smoothness with overwhelming strength and are loved by anglers for generations.
Products that reveal their true value the more they are used embody SHIMANO’s unwavering commitment and promise.

SHIMANO Technologies That Realize the HAGANE Philosophy.

Supporting reel manufacturing based on the HAGANE philosophy are SHIMANO’s proprietary metalworking technologies cultivated over many years.
These include the HAGANE Gear, forged to deliver overwhelming strength and durability from tooth tip to root while enabling smooth winding, and the high-rigidity HAGANE Body, which suppresses twisting and flex during winding, protects internal components from unexpected impacts, and enables smooth reeling.

The Symbol of SHIMANO Metalworking Technology.
Precision Cold-Forged “HAGANE Gear.”

Unlike hot forging, SHIMANO’s precision cold forging technology applies pressure to metal at room temperature to achieve exceptional accuracy and strength—this is the HAGANE Gear.
The HAGANE Gear is formed by compressing a solid block of metal with approximately 200 tons of force.
Without any cutting on the gear teeth, this press-forming method creates ultra-high-precision gears at the micron level in a single step—an unparalleled technology worldwide.
Its quality truly deserves to be called “forged metal.”

Forging a Solid Block of Metal into a Precision Gear

- High Density: Comparing the cross-section of a precision cold-forged HAGANE Gear with a cast (die-cast) gear clearly shows the difference.
Casting, which melts material and pours it into a mold, tends to introduce bubbles and impurities like the black dots seen in the image.
In contrast, precision cold forging produces a high crystal density with no voids.
This results in a tougher, more resilient gear.

- High Hardness: In precision cold forging, where no cutting (machine cutting) is performed on the gear teeth, the metal flow (grain structure) remains uninterrupted.
Gears that maintain a metal structure flowing along their shape are highly resistant to impact and extremely unlikely to break.

- High Smoothness: Gears made by cutting often retain microscopic scratches and protrusions on the surface, which can cause localized fatigue.
However, HAGANE Gear has almost no unevenness on the tooth surface, maintaining smooth winding with minimal noise even after repeated fishing trips.

Protecting Gears and Rotational Performance from Load and Impact.
The High-Rigidity Metal “HAGANE Body.”

The HAGANE Body uses highly rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium.
While pursuing extreme weight reduction, it suppresses reel flex, distortion, and twisting, achieving smooth reeling with minimal power loss.
Its high rigidity also protects delicate gear engagement from impact, maintaining a consistent winding feel.
The refined metal body embodies a dignified beauty born of function.

SHIMANO’s Belief for All Anglers

“HAGANE,” as proposed by SHIMANO, is a design philosophy that equips precision and advanced technology with toughness to create reels that can truly be used hard.
This pursuit produces highly durable gears (“HAGANE Gear”) and rigid bodies (“HAGANE Body”) that support them—delivering world-class strength and smoothness.
The more you use it, the more you realize the true value of HAGANE.
Entrusting the message of strength to HAGANE, SHIMANO now delivers it to all anglers.

| Micro Module Gear

A Gear System That Achieves Smooth Winding and Excellent Rigidity

Micro Module Gear is a gear system that delivers an unprecedented “silky” winding feel by combining extremely small precision gears with an ultra-precise body housing.
By increasing the number of meshing teeth, it achieves smooth operation without sacrificing strength.

A Drive System with Densely Meshing Compact Precision Gears

The index representing gear tooth size is called the “module.”
The smaller the module, the more vibration and noise are suppressed, greatly improving rotational smoothness.
However, reducing the module requires extremely high component and assembly precision.

SHIMANO’s Micro Module Gear successfully minimizes the module of both the pinion gear and drive gear—the heart of the reel—while maintaining strength and durability.
This has resulted in a new mechanism with approximately twice the number of teeth compared to conventional SHIMANO products.
It is a gear system achievable only by SHIMANO, with its long history of gear development.

Balancing “Silky Winding Feel” and “High Strength”

Micro Module Gear achieves smooth gear engagement through the synergy of ultra-compact precision gears and an ultra-precise body housing.
Compared to conventional SHIMANO products, it significantly reduces noise such as roughness and graininess during winding.
In addition, the increased number of meshing teeth raises vibration frequency beyond the limits of human tactile perception.
This delivers an unprecedented “silky winding feel.”

By densely meshing a greater number of ultra-small teeth, load is distributed across the gears, achieving smooth operation without sacrificing strength—SHIMANO’s proprietary gear system.

| Infinity Drive

Dramatically Reduces Rotational Resistance.
Infinity Drive Challenges the Impossible Through a Shift in Thinking.

A new mechanism developed by SHIMANO to achieve more powerful yet lighter winding.
Of the two grease bearings supporting the pinion gear, the spool-side bearing has the greatest rotational resistance.
Instead of supporting it there, the structure has been redesigned to support the pinion gear from the inside via the spool shaft.
Support distance and wall thickness have been thoroughly optimized to maintain high rigidity.
This significantly reduces rotational resistance in the gear section without compromising gear strength.

| X-Protect

An Impregnable Waterproof System.

By combining a water-repellent barrier with special water-repellent grease, water intrusion into the spool-side bearing of the drive gear shaft is firmly prevented.

| Fall Lever

A Proprietary Lever That Enables Easy and Precise Control of Fall Speed

SHIMANO’s Fall Lever is designed to make fall speed adjustment—previously difficult—easy and precise.
It enables strategic fishing tailored to conditions, from fast falls in mid-water to slow falls near the bottom.

More Effectively Appealing Fall Action

Operation with the thumb of the palming hand during the fall is also possible

Operation is possible with the thumb on the recessed section while holding the handle

The lure’s fall (descent) is a critically important action for attracting fish.
Previously, fall speed was adjusted by thumbing—applying brake pressure to the spool with the thumb—which made it difficult to maintain consistent force.
Using a reel equipped with a fall lever allows fine adjustments while maintaining a constant speed.
Whether drawing attention with a quick fall or slowly enticing fish with a gentle descent, a wide variety of fall actions can be performed according to conditions.
This becomes a powerful weapon even against seasoned fish that detect intermittent or unnatural speed changes.
In addition to fall-based attraction, during dotera drifting it is also possible to apply more brake during the fall to create a line angle and entice fish diagonally.

The Evolved NEW Fall Lever

Previously, applying brake with the fall lever while jerking caused heavier winding during retrieval.
The NEW Fall Lever adopts a new mechanism equipped with a one-way roller bearing, solving this issue.
Even when the lever is firmly tightened, winding remains light and fall sensitivity is not compromised.
Additionally, a new shape with a recessed top surface improves fingertip fit.
Whether the lever is raised or lowered, it is easy to place a finger, allowing free control of fall speed.
It is also possible to reproduce delicate actions while maintaining a consistent fall speed using only clutch operation.
This makes fall bites easier to detect than with conventional reels.
The renewed fall lever system opens up new enjoyment in offshore games across a wide range of scenarios.

| S Compact Body

By making the palming side smaller in diameter than the handle side, it achieves a grip feel that makes it seem one size smaller.
This greatly improves palming performance.

| Exciting Drag Sound

During a fight with a fish, the light and lively “Exciting Drag Sound” enhances the pleasure of the game.

| S A-RB

Highly Corrosion-Resistant Bearings

“S A-RB” features special anti-rust treatment applied to bearings, greatly improving corrosion resistance on metal surfaces.
In addition, shields help reduce the intrusion of foreign matter such as sand.
#baitcastingreel #doublebearing #S A-RB

The Role of Bearings in Reels

“Bearings” are components that allow shafts to rotate smoothly within machinery and are essential to improving reel performance.
They are also important for casting ease and sensitivity during reeling.
However, if seawater, rain, sand, or salt enters the bearings, it can cause rust and reduce smoothness during winding.
To prevent this, reel bearings are often made of rust-resistant stainless steel or treated with special coatings.

Greatly Improved Resistance to Rust

SHIMANO’s “S A-RB” forms a physical shield wall on the bearing sides to protect the balls, combined with a special anti-rust treatment.
As a result, even if seawater enters, metal surfaces are less likely to rust or corrode.
This significantly extends bearing life and comfortably supports the angler’s fishing experience.
