The series’ top-class spool performance leads tai rubber fishing into a new stage.

The Evolution Of Ocea Conquest Never Stops.

The “Ocea Conquest” series boasts overwhelming trust and proven performance, standing apart from other reels in rigidity, durability, and retrieval feel.
It is a versatile model compatible with a wide range of fishing styles such as jigging and tai rubber.
The lineup includes the basic “Ocea Conquest,” the “Ocea Conquest CT” with a counter for superior depth awareness, and now the newly introduced “Ocea Conquest FT.”
- Innovation Of The “FT” Model Designed Exclusively For Tai Rubber -
The Ocea Conquest FT is an innovative model born from the real voices of tai rubber anglers.
By eliminating the levelwind-linked mechanism used in other series, it pursues spool rotation performance to the extreme.
Even in complex and fast currents, it reliably detects bottom contact when using lightweight heads.
The spool sensitively reacts to subtle signals that cannot be fully perceived by rod tip movement or hand feel, allowing bottom detection through changes in spool rotation.
This high-performance spool rotation is the key that determines results under harsh conditions.
As a new standard for tai rubber fishing and a trump card for finesse tai rubber in highly competitive areas, the “FT” demonstrates its true value.

PE-Exclusive, Lightweight Small-Diameter Spool Specialized For Bottom Detection.

To enhance bottom-detection performance, a lightweight spool is essential.
In addition to a thin-wall design dedicated to PE line, the line capacity is set precisely for PE 0.6-200 m and 0.8-150 m, eliminating unnecessary backing.
Furthermore, the small-diameter spool increases the number of spool rotations when line is released at the same speed, making it easier to judge the moment rotation stops compared to larger spools.
This makes bottom contact easier to detect, as if using a tai rubber head one weight class heavier, supporting quick retrieval starts to avoid snags and improve catch rates.
The spool is not only thin-walled and lightweight, but also uses the same highly corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy common to the Ocea Conquest series.

High-Precision Braking For Comfortable Underhand Casting.
Flexible Response To Current Changes.

The Ocea Conquest FT is equipped with an FTB brake.
By removing the brake unit from the spool, it further contributes to lower spool inertia, while allowing easy adjustment using only the external dial.
In addition to underhand casting, when slack line occurs during the fall due to current changes, tightening the brake via the external dial accurately controls slack.

The mechanical brake should be set just tight enough to eliminate spool play and not tightened further.
This is an important setting to maximize spool-free performance.
During tai rubber falls, the basic setting is to start with the external dial positioned midway between MAX and MIN.
If slack line occurs on the spool due to current influence or during underhand casting, increasing braking toward MAX helps prevent line trouble.
When using lighter tai rubber heads and wanting to weaken braking during the fall, adjust toward MIN.
Proper adjustment of the FTB (external dial) is the key to unlocking this model’s true performance.
Fine tuning according to conditions is the key that determines results.

Proof Of Conquest Bloodline, Smooth And Powerful Retrieval.

The Ocea Conquest FT inherits the series tradition and is equipped with a brass Micro Module Gear.
Its core, enclosed in a high-rigidity HAGANE body, also features an X-SHIP mechanism that delivers smooth and powerful retrieval, achieving an exquisite winding feel, delicate operability, and stable power.

Approximately 60 g Weight Reduction, A Compact Body That Fits In The Hand.
FT Innovates Operability.

Compared to the Ocea Conquest 200, approximately 60 g of weight reduction has been achieved.
In addition, the shorter distance from the reel foot improves palming comfort, resulting in a compact design that naturally fits in the palm.
This reduces fatigue even during long hours of use.
While inheriting the design philosophy of the Ocea Conquest series, known for heavy-duty, high-torque retrieval performance, the Ocea Conquest FT thoroughly pursues agility and operability.
It is an ideal choice for anglers seeking light handling and high responsiveness.

HAGANE: SHIMANO’s Belief

SHIMANO’s reel design philosophy aimed at “retrieval feel that never changes.”
That is “HAGANE.”
Beginning with precision cold forging, SHIMANO refines its proprietary metalworking technologies to the extreme, pursuing reels that only SHIMANO can create.
Backed by the “HAGANE” philosophy, SHIMANO reels combine inspiring smoothness with overwhelming strength, and have been loved by many anglers for generations.
Products that reveal their true value the more they are used are SHIMANO’s unwavering resolve and promise.

SHIMANO Technologies That Realize The HAGANE Philosophy.

Supporting reel manufacturing based on the “HAGANE” philosophy are SHIMANO’s proprietary metalworking technologies cultivated over many years.
These include “HAGANE Gear,” forged to deliver overwhelming strength and durability from tooth tip to root while enabling smooth retrieval, and the high-rigidity “HAGANE Body,” which suppresses twisting and flex during winding, protects internal components from unexpected impacts, and enables smooth reeling.

The Symbol Of SHIMANO Metalworking Technology.
Precision Cold-Forged “HAGANE Gear.”

Unlike hot forging, SHIMANO’s precision cold-forging technology applies pressure to metal at room temperature to achieve superior accuracy and strength—this is “HAGANE Gear.”
“HAGANE Gear” is completed by compressing a solid block of metal with approximately 200 tons of force.
Without any cutting applied to the tooth surface, this press-forming process produces ultra-high-precision gears at the micron level in a single operation, a technology unparalleled worldwide.
Its quality truly deserves to be called “forged metal.”

Forging A Solid Block Of Metal Into Precision Gears

- High Density When comparing a cross-section of a “HAGANE Gear” produced by precision cold forging with a cast (die-cast) gear, the difference is clear.
In casting, where material is melted and poured into a mold, air bubbles and impurities are more likely to be trapped, as shown by the black dots in the image.
In contrast, precision cold forging produces high crystal density with no voids.
This results in gears with greater toughness.

- High Hardness In precision cold forging, which applies no cutting (machine cutting) to the gear tooth surface, the metal flow (grain structure flow) is not interrupted.
Gears that retain metal flow along their shape are highly resistant to impact and extremely unlikely to suffer damage.

- High Smoothness Gears produced by cutting often retain minute scratches and protrusions on the surface, which can cause localized fatigue.
However, “HAGANE Gear” has almost no unevenness on the tooth surface, making it resistant to noise generation even after repeated fishing trips and reeling, while maintaining smooth retrieval.

Protecting Gears And Rotational Performance From Load And Impact.
High-Rigidity Metal “HAGANE Body.”

“HAGANE Body” uses highly rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium.
While pursuing extreme weight reduction, it suppresses flex, distortion, and twisting of the reel body, achieving smooth reeling with minimal power loss.
High rigidity also protects delicate gear engagement from impact, maintaining smooth retrieval.
The refined metal body embodies a dignified beauty.

SHIMANO’s Belief Delivered To All Anglers

“HAGANE,” as advocated by SHIMANO, is a design philosophy that equips precision and advanced technology with toughness to create reels meant for serious use.
This pursuit gives rise to highly durable gears (“HAGANE” Gear) and the rigid bodies (“HAGANE” Body) that firmly support them—the answer being world-standard strength and smoothness.
The true value of “HAGANE” is felt the more it is used.
Entrusting a message of strength to “HAGANE,” SHIMANO now delivers it to all anglers.

| Micro Module Gear

A Gear System That Achieves Smooth Retrieval And Excellent Rigidity

“Micro Module Gear” is a gear system that achieves an unprecedented “silky” retrieval feel by combining extremely small precision gears with a highly refined body housing.
By increasing the number of meshing teeth, it achieves a smooth feeling without sacrificing strength.

Compact Precision Gears Tightly Meshed
Drive System

The index that indicates the size of gear teeth is called the “module.”
The smaller the module, the more gear vibration and noise are suppressed, dramatically improving rotational smoothness.
However, reducing the module size requires extremely high component precision and assembly accuracy.

SHIMANO’s “Micro Module Gear” successfully minimizes the module of the pinion gear and drive gear—the heart of the reel—while maintaining strength and durability.
As a result, it achieves a new mechanism with approximately twice the number of teeth compared to conventional SHIMANO products (compared to previous SHIMANO models).
This is a gear system made possible only by SHIMANO, which has long faced the challenge of gear development.

Balancing “Silky Retrieval Feel” And “High Strength”

“Micro Module Gear” achieves smooth meshing between gears through the synergistic effect of ultra-compact precision gears and an ultra-refined body housing.
It significantly suppresses noise such as roughness and graininess during retrieval compared to previous SHIMANO products.
In addition, the increased number of meshing teeth brings vibration frequency closer to beyond the limits of human tactile perception.
This delivers an unprecedented “silky retrieval feel.”

Furthermore, by densely meshing a large number of ultra-compact teeth, the load applied to the gears is dispersed, achieving smooth feeling without sacrificing strength—this is SHIMANO’s proprietary gear system.

| X-SHIP

A larger-diameter drive gear, optimal positioning of both pinion and drive gears, and two-point bearing support for the pinion gear.
These robust gear engagements maintain light and powerful reeling performance under load.

| X-Protect

An Impregnable Waterproof System.

By combining a labyrinth structure with special water-repellent grease, water intrusion into the spool-side bearing of the drive gear shaft is firmly blocked.

| Silent Tune

Enhances Quietness During Casting And
Improves Spool Rotation Startup

SHIMANO’s “Silent Tune” is a technology that supports quick and smooth rotation in baitcasting reels.
By applying light pressure to the bearings that support the spool, vibration during high-speed rotation is suppressed.
This improves quietness during casting and enhances spool rotation startup.

Delivers A Quiet And Pleasant
Cast Feel

When casting a baitcasting reel, higher spool rotation speeds can generate minute vibrations and cause unwanted noise.

SHIMANO’s “Silent Tune” places O-rings on the inner and outer diameters of the bearing and on the outer diameter of the bearing seat.
By increasing contact with the shaft and frame, bearing play is reduced.
This eliminates rotational loss of the spool, achieving high quietness and smooth rotational feel.
It thoroughly suppresses even minute bearing vibrations, enabling a crisp and satisfying cast feel.

| Finesse Tune Brake System

A New-Concept Magnetic Brake
Pursuing Ultimate Lightness

SHIMANO’s “FTB (Finesse Tune Brake System)” installed in baitcasting reels is a magnetic brake mechanism that eliminates the brake unit from the spool, realizing the lightest spool in SHIMANO bait finesse history.

This enables trouble-free, even lower-trajectory approaches such as bait finesse fishing using lightweight lures.

Challenges In Reducing Spool Weight

When using lightweight lures, reducing spool weight is essential to enhance low-trajectory casting.
In the past, blanking processes were used to remove portions of the spool to reduce weight, but as long as a brake unit was attached, the effectiveness had its limits.

SHIMANO’s Proprietary Brake Mechanism
That Realizes Extended Casting

“FTB,” independently developed by SHIMANO, is a brake system optimized for bait finesse fishing.
By eliminating the brake unit from the spool, it achieves both weight reduction and lower spool inertia.

Lower inertia improves spool rotation response, allowing casting with less force.
This makes advanced casts easier, such as ultra-low-trajectory casts skimming the water surface and skipping casts over obstacles, enabling finer control.

Pursuing The Lightest Spool
In Bait Finesse

How does the FTB magnetic brake differ from conventional magnetic brake structures?
Typical magnetic brakes require parts on the spool that receive magnetic force to control rotation.
FTB applies magnetic force directly to the spool itself, suppressing rotation without those components.
This enables a significant reduction in spool weight.

Pinpoint Casts Exactly As Intended

The NEW FTB installed in the “Aldebaran BFS” and “Calcutta Conquest BFS” places a magnetic ring inside the dial case, drawing in magnetic force at the minimum brake setting and successfully reducing its influence.
This contributes to ultra-low-trajectory flip casts with ultralight lures.

In addition, the expanded movable range of the brake unit allows finer brake adjustment, improving adaptability to conditions.

| S Compact Body

By making the palming side smaller in diameter than the handle side, it delivers a grip feel that makes the reel seem one size smaller.
This improves palming performance.

| Exciting Drag Sound

During fights with fish, the light and crisp “Exciting Drag Sound” enhances the thrill of the game.

| S3D Spool

By completely revising the cutting process, spool precision has been dramatically improved.
As a result, quietness during casting is enhanced (compared to SHIMANO products).

| S A-RB

Highly Rust-Resistant Bearings

“S A-RB” significantly improves corrosion resistance on metal surfaces by applying a special anti-rust treatment to the bearings.
In addition, shielding helps reduce the intrusion of foreign matter such as sand.

The Role Of Bearings In Reels

“Bearings” are components that allow shafts to rotate smoothly inside machinery and are essential for improving reel performance.
They are also important for ease of casting and enhanced sensitivity during reeling.
However, when seawater, rain, sand, or salt enters bearings, it can cause rust, resulting in a loss of smoothness during retrieval.
To prevent this, reel bearings are often made from rust-resistant stainless materials or treated with special coatings.

Dramatically Improved Resistance To Rust

SHIMANO’s “S A-RB” forms a physical shield wall on the sides of the bearing to protect the bearing balls and applies a special anti-rust treatment.
As a result, even if seawater enters, the metal surface resists rust and corrosion.
This allows bearings to last longer and comfortably support anglers’ fishing lives.

| Super Free Spool

When the clutch is disengaged, the spool is supported only by two bearings.
This system suppresses wobble while reducing spool free resistance to the absolute minimum.
